- Story Text: Pakistan's President Asif Ali Zardari was greeted by the Italian President Giorgio Napolitano on Tuesday (September 29) as the President begins a three-day visit to the country.
Zardari, who has arrived in Italy after attending a G20 meeting in the United States is calling for international states to strengthen trading ties with Pakistan.
"In order to play a productive and full role to our capacity and capability we need support from the world as in trade," Zardari said.
"We need support from the world to give us access to the European Union and trading with Pakistan we'd appreciate a special dispensation to a country which is threatened by terrorism and a terrorism war, a war which could be dangerous for the whole world' he said.
"Pakistan is determined to be part of the solution and part of the solution to the world's problems in this region," Zardari said.
Pakistan's President will meet with Italian prime minister Silvio Berlusconi on Wednesday and is expected to have a private audience with Pope Benedict on Thursday. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
