- Story Text: You can't teach an old dog new tricks, but take an old game of fetch and turn it into a new game of frisbee and you could qualify for the Czech Republic's annual frisbee championships.
This year's competition, in Nymburk, is the fifth and first where participants actually had to qualify to take part.
"For the first time this year, people actually had to qualify for the championships. We also allow foreigners to compete here and so teams from Germany, Poland or Slovenia are present. This also helps us to find new tricks and improve," said event organiser, Jakub Styber.
Owner and dog have two minutes to impress the judges with tricks, leaps, twists and bounds. All, while catching a frisby of course!
"I started with Frisbee training six years ago with my older dog. I was looking on the internet to see what I could do with my dog, because he liked jumping and playing fetch, and I found the dog frisbee. We found some videos and started to train on our own. Than we bought Dixi and she has been training since she was a puppy," said this year's winner, Lucka Schonova.
The two-legged winners get a trophy, the pups make do with a bowl of choicest dog food. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
