- Story Text: Indonesia launched sea and air search to locate 12 missing people on Sunday (December 4) after a twin-engine police plane crashed the previous day (December 3).
The flight was en route to the island of Batam, south of Singapore from Pangkal Pinang on the island of Bangka. It is thought to have crashed between the islands of Mensanak and Sebangka or Gentar, a police report seen by Reuters said.
A search team recovered items apparently identified as being from the missing aircraft, including seats, luggage and documents, the report said.
Remain of one of the 13 passengers was found overnight and was sent to a hospital on Batam island, Search and Rescue Agency said.
There was a brief confusion with the manifest with police reported 15 people were on board and search and rescue agency put the number at 16.
