- Story Text: Mexican team Club America held their first training in Yokohama on Tuesday (December 13) ahead of their Club World Cup semi-final against European champions Real Madrid.
Speaking to journalists on the sidelines of their training session, attacking midfielder William Fernando da Silva said he and his team mates were aware of the challenge that lies ahead when they take on the 11-times European champions on Thursday (December 15).
"Of course they are favourites but we also have our qualities. We know that it will be a complicated game but it doesn't matter as we will still put forward a strong team. It is a team with a great history. We'll not give up for anything. We will give everything on the field. The reality is that this is a game of 11 against 11. This may be a team that has achieved a lot, but we are still a team with great dreams and goals," he said.
It was a feeling shared by his teammate Pablo Cesar Aguilar:
"We know that we have to have confidence in our team and in our plan. We also have a good team. It is 11 against 11 and we know they might be the favourites and they know what they're doing but it is a dream game for us," Aguilar said, speaking of Thursday's (December 15) match.
Silvio Romero led the Eagles into a win against Asian champions Jeonbuk Motors on Sunday (December 11), by scoring twice in the second half.
