- Story Text: Palestinian firefighters arrived in Haifa on early morning hours of Friday (November 25) to help extinguishing fires in the city.
Wildfires tore across central and northern Israel on Thursday, forcing tens of thousands of residents to flee the city, as leaders blamed arsonists for some of the blazes and branded them terrorists.
Abdulatif Abu Amshah, the head of the Palestinian firefighters team, said that they only care about people's lives.
"Firefighters, their aim is to stop fire. No need to look of religion or anything else. The human being is the same for the firefighters, all over the world. So, when human beings need to be helped, we can help him whatever we can," Abu Amshah said.
The spokesperson of the firefighters of Haifa region, Ori Jabotero said that they really appreciate the help by the Palestinians.
"We truly appreciate the assist that our Palestinian brothers came to aid us, since it is a very good way to see, to show, to the world, how firefighters over the world share the same values of taking care of people, of saving life. And we truly and deeply appreciate it," Jabotero said.
The fires have been burning in multiple locations for the past three days but intensified on Thursday, fuelled by unseasonably dry weather and strong easterly winds. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
