Erm, it's definitely being here er in the theatre and meeting the cast has kind of made the concept solid now so it's a real thing that's actually happening. So yeah, I'm definitely jazzed. I mean just talking to the other actors er I got a real great sense of their energy so I'm really looking forward to it." VARIOUS OF EASTON, LISTER AND CHORUS GIRLS POSING FOR PHOTOGRAPHERS (SOUNDBITE) (English) SINGER AND ACTRESS, SHEENA EASTON, SAYING: "It's one of those shows that will continue to be revived because it has everything. I mean it was so beautifully written and er just visually it has this impact. This amazing amount of dancers, the sets, the music of course, song after song after song, you recognise, you know, you can hum along with. It's funny." VARIOUS OF EASTON AND LISTER POSE FOR PHOTOGRAPHER ON STAIRS (SOUNDBITE) (English) SINGER AND ACTRESS, SHEENA EASTON, SAYING: "So er it's not like I have to suddenly get into work mode but erm when you're doing eight shows a week it's more about the rest of your life goes away because there are no real days off where you can go 'oh you know I'll stay out till 4am with friends talking and laughing and then get up and be fine tomorrow'. So it's really about getting into that pairing things down in your life and getting focused." EASTON AND LISTER POSE FOR PHOTOGRAPHERS (SOUNDBITE) (English) SINGER AND ACTRESS, SHEENA EASTON, SAYING: "I don't want to ever go home and go 'well I phoned that in'. You can never do that. You've got to be 100% there for every show. And if I do that which you know, that's what I intend to do, then I'll think I did my job." EASTON AND LISTER POSE FOR PHOTOGRAPHERS ON STAGE WITH BRANDING BEHIND THEM (SOUNDBITE) (English) SINGER AND ACTRESS, SHEENA EASTON, SAYING: "Well we've lost some greats in the industry and that's sad and disturbing in many ways and also you know politically. It's horrendous, everywhere for everybody it's been, it doesn't matter which side of which issue you fall on there's been an awful lot of emotion brought into politics all over the place. You know everywhere you go there's so many emotions involved and just what's happening in the world there's a lot... 2016 for a lot of people was not the greatest moment. So I think we're all looking forward to 2017 and for me it's a great way to start it." LISTER AND EASTON BEING WELCOMED ON STAGE BY DIRECTOR MARK BRAMBLE (SOUNDBITE) (English) DIRECTOR, MARK BRAMBLE, SAYING: "Well it's a dream come true to come back to Drury Lane. It's the most inviting theatre I think in the world. And I think the relationship with the stage and the audience is perfect and even though there are two thousand three hundred seats here. When you stand on the stage and perform you can touch every person which is I think unique in the world." 42ND STREET POSTER (SOUNDBITE) (English) DIRECTOR, MARK BRAMBLE, SAYING: "Follow your dreams and with talent and hard work they can come true. When we first brought the show to London, which was the first production after New York, I thought 'I don't know if the show is going to speak to this audience. Er it's so American?' So you know you're nervous and you don't know. But as it turns out it speaks to people everywhere all over the world. The show has never stopped being performed since it's premiere in 1980 in New York." EASTON POSES WITH CHORUS GIRLS (MUTE)

- Story Text: Sheena Easton is to make her West End debut at London's Theatre Royal Drury Lane in '42nd Street'. The Grammy award winner will play the role of Broadway star Dorothy Brock.
Easton told Reuters on Thursday (November 17) that she was excited to take on the role, "I'm definitely jazzed. I mean just talking to the other actors I got a real great sense of their energy so I'm really looking forward to it."
The star was in a reflective but optimistic mood for a better 2017 following the loss this year of some big name stars including her friend Prince.
"2016 for a lot of people was not the greatest moment. So I think we're all looking forward to 2017 and for me it's a great way to start it," said Easton.
Talking about the recent U.S. Presidential elections Easton said: "It's horrendous... it doesn't matter which side of which issue you fall on there's been an awful lot of emotion brought into politics all over the place."
42nd Street first ran at The Theatre Royal Drury Lane from 1984 to 1989 when Catherine Zeta Jones performed in the chorus line.
The new show, features a cast of more than 50 actors including Tom Lister, and will be directed by its co-author Mark Bramble who told Reuters it was a "dream come true to come back to Drury Lane" adding "it turns out it speaks to people everywhere all over the world. The show has never stopped being performed since its premiere in 1980 in New York."
