  • Story Text: The Iraqi army said on Wednesday (September 5) it had arrested 27
    suspected insurgents, believed to be members of al-Qaeda organisation in Iraq
    in a search and arrest operation to root out insurgents from the northern town
    of Tikrit.
    A source at the Ministry of Interior said they received information
    that led successfully to the arrest of the suspected insurgents.
    A number of weapons, including rocket-propelled grenades, detonation
    cords and improvised explosive devices were seized during the operation.
    Several months ago, the Iraqi government had vowed to crack down on
    insurgents in 'Imposing the Law Operation' and said that they have arrested
    number of terrorists from different parts of Iraq.
