- Story Text: Jerry Hall -- the one-time wife of Mick Jagger and ex-supermodel -- put up a handful of her vintage clothes and accessories under the hammer, including the wedding dress she wore when marrying the Rolling Stones frontman.
Jerry Hall unveiled a "fraction" of her wardrobe and accessories on Monday (June 9) ahead of an auction to benefit the homeless.
Over 70 pieces from Hall's years as a supermodel, red carpets and even wedding to a rock legend will go under the hammer on Tuesday (June 10).
The centrepiece of the sale includes the figure-hugging, short, lace dress she wore to her wedding to Rolling Stones singer Mick Jagger. The Antony Price dress is priced between 300-500 British pounds (600-1000 USD). She said she did not find it difficult to let go of the dress. .
Hall told Reuters Television she was initially apprehensive about getting rid of some of the items: "I started modelling at 16 and so many designers gave me things, I did so many shows and collecting things and buying things. I've always been a very big fan of fashion. It was really hard to let go, the idea. But once I got started and once I knew that it was going to be recycled I was really quite happy to let go of things and make room for things that fit me."
She added that many of the dresses were worn to red carpet events, black-tie galas and parties with celebrities like Elton John. Hall said of her clothes: "They all have memories. I always remember what I was wearing when I went somewhere."
Auctioneer Kerry Taylor said the prices of the pieces were intentionally kept low to allow more people to buy a piece of rock n' roll and fashion history.
However, any one looking to buy the dresses will need a 26 inch waist and 34 inch bust as Hall was renowned for her tall and svelte figure.
The sale is expected to fetch 25,000 GBP (50,000 USD). - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
