- Story Text: Singapore has seen its biggest professional boxing event in three years on Saturday (January 16) with six bouts staged at Suntec International Convention Centre.
The main fight of the night was the bout for the Panasian Boxing Association (PABA) super-bantamweight title between the favourite Leon Moore and Indonesian boxer Marangin Marbun.
The 30-year-old boxer from British Guyana managed to bring down his opponent in the 9th round but ended up winning the title on points.
"I stick to my plan. I don't go for a knock out. I just go for a victory. If the knock out comes, it comes," Moore said after the fight.
Marbun had no excuses after the defeat.
"He is a very good boxer and I got way too emotional to knock him out," he said.
Among those competing on the undercard was Singapore's only professional boxer, Mohamed Nor Rizan, who defeated Mao Yi Jun of China. Boxers from the Philippines, Thailand, South Korea and Japan made up the other bouts. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
