So I think it's an entertaining little walk thru that you can spend an hour, you can linger. But it takes me an hour to go through it." Unbelievably I looked at it and thought, I'm home." RICHARDS SPEAKING TO REPORTER (SOUNDBITE) (English) KEITH RICHARDS, ROLLING STONES, SAYING: "In a way there's a sense of nostalgia, but I think I walked away from it with how much the Stones mean to so many people. And that was kind of humbling in a way. I mean, I'm not particularly sentimental but it's a very touching thing to me." WOOD SPEAKING TO REPORTER (SOUNDBITE) (English) RONNIE WOOD, ROLLING STONES, SAYING: "Oh, they think, some things don't change. You're just as bad, dad." RICHARDS AND WOODS POSING FOR PICTURES (SOUNDBITE) (English) RONNIE WOOD, ROLLING STONES, SAYING: (ON DESIGNING BAND ASSETS) "Well it's always important how you present yourself and I've always left a lot of that to Mick and Charlie, as the head of the art department, in that since. They've been in control of that over the years and me and Keith think we're in good hands." JAGGER AND RICHARDS SPEAKING TO REPORTER (SOUNDBITE) (English) MICK JAGGER, ROLLING STONES, SAYING: "We've got a new album. We're doing, we were doing an album of new songs in London and we got in the middle and we started to play blues and then we did 12 of them in three days. So we said, 'ok, we'll put that out first.' And it's a kind of homage to our blues heroes from our teenage years." (SOUNDBITE) (English) KEITH RICHARDS, ROLLING STONES, SAYING: "It kind of made itself. We went into the studio and suddenly blues invaded the room and we just got carried away. And at the end of it we didn't intend to make an album, but suddenly we realized there was an album." Believe that you'll believe anything." - Story Text: The Rolling Stones celebrated the arrival of their traveling exhibition, "Exhibitionism," to New York on Tuesday (November 15) with a star-studded pink carpet party.
Band members Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Ronnie Wood and Charlie Watts are sharing memories and memorabilia with fans in a space the band called a funky warehouse.
"We tried to make each room really different so each room could be like, 'oh, wow, wasn't expecting that, or wasn't expecting that.' So I think it's an entertaining little walk thru that you can spend an hour, you can linger. But it takes me an hour to go through it," said lead singer Jagger.
Nine galleries make up the show, with costumes, music instruments and personal notes on display for fans.
"I like the guitar part, I think that's good. I think the costumes is good. I like the film part. It's all really different, you know? And some of it's a bit unexpected. So every time I go through I kind of see another part."
The show starts with a replica of the bands first apartment, which Richards said brought back found memories.
"I got to say when it all comes down to it, that apartment. Unbelievably I looked at it and thought, I'm home," he said with a laugh.
Wood said when his children saw it for the first time it was all too familiar: "They think, some things don't change. You're just as bad, dad."
For Richards, seeing his career collected in one space created a sense of nostalgia.
"I think I walked away from it with how much the Stones mean to so many people. And that was kind of humbling in a way. I mean, I'm not particularly sentimental but it's a very touching thing to me," said Richards.
On December 2 the group will release their first album in ten years, which was recorded by accident.
"We're doing, we were doing an album of new songs in London and we got in the middle and we started to play blues and then we did 12 of them in three days. So we said, 'ok, we'll put that out first.' And it's a kind of homage to our blues heroes from our teenage years."
"Exhibitionism" will be open in New York from November 12, 2016 until March 12, 2017 before heading to Chicago, Illinois. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
