- Story Text: Chad Blakley the owner of Lights Over Lapland (www.lightsoverlapland.com) received a phone call from one of his guides, whom he describes as a world class photographer, telling him he just spotted UFOs.
"I have a guy named Oliver Write who's been working with us for many years, his photography is world class and we've built quite a bit of recur together in the last couple of years and he sent me a message around 10:30 p.m. the day before yesterday and said I think I photographed UFOs," Blakley told Reuters from Sweden, via SKYPE.
Lights Over Lapland is a company based in the Abisko National Park, in Sweden it caters to tourists who travel to the Arctic to photograph and film the northern lights auroras.
While these magnificent sights appear unusual to most, for Chad and his team they have seen these displays on numerous occasions, on Friday (November 11) at night the sight they viewed was very unusual Blakley says.
"The webcam had actually captured four different image is over a twenty minute timeframe of what appeared to be a cloud, a crescent shaped cloud with a tail behind it," Blakley said.
After investigating and with the help of a website where contributors weigh in on the facts, it was concluded that this anomaly, that they referred to as a cloud, was due to an Atlas V rocket that had blasted off from Vandenberg Air Force Base in California, United States, several hours earlier carrying the Worldview 4 satellite to orbit, Blakley said.
"I have to admit you are standing out in a frozen area in the Arctic, you're looking up in the sky you see what appears to be something you can't explain, it does have a tendency to take your mind to very interesting places," Blakley said with a smile. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
