- Story Text: Chinese President Xi Jinping congratulated Donald Trump on winning the U.S. presidency, China's Foreign Ministry said on Thursday (November 10), telling him the two biggest economies in the world shared responsibility for promoting global development and prosperity.
"Yesterday, Chinese President Xi Jinping had send a congratulatory message to elected president of the United States Trump. President Xi pointed out in the congratulatory message that as the world's largest developing country and a developed country, and the world's two largest economies, China and the United States share special and important responsibility for maintaining the world's peace and stability and promoting global prosperity and development as the two countries have extensive common interests. To develop a long-term, healthy and stable China-U.S. relationship serves the common interests of the two countries' people, and is also a common expectation of the International Community," Lu said.
Lu also conveyed Xi's hope to expand cooperation with the U.S. in all fields and bring benefits to the world.

Trump, a real estate developer and reality TV host, stunned the world by defeating heavily favoured rival Hillary Clinton, sending stocks and the U.S. dollar tumbling.
