- Story Text: Iraqis voiced concern on Wednesday (November 9) over Donald Trump winning the White House.
Many Baghdad residents feared his election would not benefit Iraq or other Arab nations.
"Trump has perspective which doesn't serve neither Arabs nor Muslims. He refused entry of Muslims into America. This indicates that he harbours hostility to the Islamic and Arab countries. Such policy doesn't serve our relations with America," said Bahjit Talib.
"He (Trump) won't do anything good to Iraq. He may be worse than Obama. The American administration doesn't serve Arab, Islamic and Asian countries. The successive U.S. administrations worked to steal our resources and oil," said Mohammed al-Mayahi.
"The Iraqi politicians should rely on themselves and be united. The Iraqis are able to run their country by themselves. We don't want to depend on the American administration. The Americans brought us turmoil and we have been in chaos for 14 years.''
During his campaign, Trump said he would make America great again through the force of his personality, negotiating skill and business acumen. He proposed refusing entry to the United States to Muslims and people from war-torn Middle Eastern countries. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
