- Story Text:Actress Jessica Chastain sank her hands and feet into cement Thursday (November 3) in the forecourt of the TCL Chinese Theatre, honoring a career that has brought her two Oscar nominations.
Chastain talked about some of the more memorable big screen roles she has taken on. "I've played fantastic characters in my career, I got to play a mission commander to Mars, a CIA operative, an open hearted Southern bombshell, and a lobbyist on Capitol Hill. And I've learned so much from the women I've had the privilege to embody. I've learned that there are different ways to be brave and strong and kind and loving."
The 39-year-old was born in Sonoma and raised in Sacramento, California, before going on to study at the Juilliard School. Early television roles on "E.R." and "Law & Order" were followed by her big screen debut in the 2008 film, "Jolene."
Chastain had her breakout year in 2011, when she had six films released, including "The Help,'' which brought her a best supporting actress Oscar nomination. She also received a best actress Oscar nomination in 2013 for her portrayal of a CIA analyst in "Zero Dark Thirty.'' That film's director, Kathryn Bigelow, praised Chastain's craft and commitment at the ceremony. "Jessica is possessed of keen intelligence and enormous, enormous range. A sublime grace coupled with an almost feral intensity. She is also an utter slave to her craft and one of the hardest working people I've ever met, let alone directed in a film."
Chastain's next role is that of the title character in "Miss Sloane," which opens in theaters on November 25. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
