- Story Text: A crowd of nearly 150 men, women and children mostly dressed in power pantsuits, descended on downtown Washington D.C. on Friday (November 4) to shoot a "flashmob" dance video.
The group's wardrobe choice is a nod to Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton's preferred campaign attire.
Led by choreographer Jessica Redish, they gave a flashmob dance performance to Salute by Little Mix at the Freedom Plaza.
The event was organized by D.C. resident Jamie Poslosky, an avid Clinton supporter.
"I came up with it because I was feeling pretty demoralized when the state of the rhetoric in this election campaign and as one person it's easy to feel really defeatist about what kind of an impact we can have. And I thought rather than sit and stew and be despondent I would try to find something really empowering and positive to do and clearly as was shown here there's a real energy and desire by a lot of people to just be proud and loud and supportive," she said.
Before the event, a number of the dancers met with Redish to learn the dance moves intended to reflect the power and confidence that some Clinton supporters say she exudes.
"I think there's a lot of misogyny and sexism in this campaign and when women come together we create really strong powerful things and this is just an example," said Ashley Badgley, 28, said.
Opinion polls show Clinton still holds advantages in states that could be critical in deciding the election, but her lead has narrowed after a revelation a week ago that the Federal Bureau of Investigation was looking into a new trove of e-mails as part of its probe into her handling of classified information while she was secretary of state.
A McClatchy-Marist opinion poll released on Saturday (November 5) of voters nationwide showed Clinton leading by one percentage point compared to 6 percentage points in September.
Jessica Smith a mother of three and a participant in the flashmob is convinced Clinton will win.
"I'm not like, I'm not watching the polls. I've chosen not to for the last because, you know, I don't think there's anything to be gained I think focus now on the fact that she's going to win and we're going to celebrate its going to be great," she said.
