  • Story Text: Akris, a Swiss label that is celebrating its 90th birthday this year, held its spring/summer 2013 catwalk presentation inside the National Chaillot Theatre on Sunday (September 30) during Paris Fashion Week.
    Akris' creative director Albert Kriemler's latest collection, inspired by the works of the Brazilian landscape architect Burle Marx, is sexy and polished. The first number sent down the runway was a transparent, long-sleeved mesh dress. The sensuality imbuing the collection was reflected in the pieces that followed, such as a transparent mesh front-zip jacket and a series of low-cut, V-neck dresses and sheaths. The overall look of the collection was extremely feminine. Not a single print was featured, with Kriemler opting instead for monochromatic hues of bright pink, muted ochre and dusty rose that emphasized the sleek silhouette of the clothes.
    Sitting front row in a maroon suede sheath was Princess Charlene of Monaco, a major fan of the label. She has worn Akris to major events in the past, such as to the 63rd Red Cross Ball in Monte Carlo in August 2011, for which she donned a strapless fuschia Akris gown. The princess also attended Akris' Spring 2012 show in Paris this past February.
    Akris, which has shown its collections in the French capital since 2002, is the only Swiss fashion house officially accredited by the Federation Francaise de la Couture, the organization that oversees Paris Fashion Week.
