- Story Text: Residents of the northern Iraqi city of Kirkuk were back in the streets after a curfew was lifted on Sunday (October 23), following an attack by Islamic State.
Eighteen members of security forces and workers at a power station were killed when the militants launched a huge attack on Friday.
Security forces gained full control of the city on Saturday.
The official in charge of Asayhish, or the security organisation of the regional Kurdish government said "35 to 45 terrorists" were killed in the operation.
Iraqi forces, backed by a Kurdish fighters and a U.S.-led coalition launched an offensive to drive out the militants from Mosul city on Monday. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
