- Story Text: Sweden's Royals Queen Silvia and King Carl XVI. Gustaf arrived in Berlin on Wednesday (October 5) for a four-day state visit.
After being welcomed with military honours by German president Joachim Gauck and his partner Daniela Schadt at the Bellevue residence in the morning, the Royal couple went on to meet Berlin mayor Michael Mueller at the Brandenburg Gate, where onlookers braved the rain to get a glimpse of the Royal visitors.
Later on Wednesday the Swedish Royals were received by German chancellor Angela Merkel for talks the chancellory.
Born in Germany, Queen Silvia regularly visits her home country. This time the royal couple will also head to Hamburg, Wittenberg and Leipzig during their four-day trip to Germany. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
