- Story Text: Hundreds of demonstrators take to the streets of Paris and of the southwestern French city of Toulouse both in protest and support of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's visit to France.
Several hundred people turned out for small demonstrations to protest but also to support the visit to France of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Wednesday (October 31).
In Paris, a group of about 200 people gathered in front of the city's famed opera house to protest at what they say is Israel's mis-treatment of Palestinians. A similar-sized protest took place in Toulouse, on the eve of Netanyahu's visit to the southwestern French city to commemorate the death of four people who were killed in a Jewish school last March by an al-Qaeda-inspired gunman.
Not far from Israel's embassy in the French capital, a few dozen people gathered amid tight security to show their support for Israel, which they said was under threat from Iran and from the Islamist group Hamas that currently controls the Gaza strip. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
