I never really thought about it in the past cos we were, you just don't think about that stuff but looking back on it we've really had to maintain it."

- Story Text: Eleven years since the release of their last studio album, Californian rock band No Doubt are back, with new record 'Push and Shove' and plans for a world tour.
With a very different music scene to the one they released single 'It's My Life' into back in 2003, the band are now also all parents.
"This whole making of the record was completely different than we have ever done before just because, well I have two kids which makes it really challenging to be creative in a really small window of time." 42-year-old lead singer Gwen Stefani told Reuters Television.
As well releasing two solo albums and launching a clothing line, over the last decade Stefani has also had two sons with husband Gavin Rossdale. "Trying to balance leaving them and going and being creative with the band, was a really challenging thing to do," she revealed a few days after the release of the band's new album.
"I feel like that challenge was the angst that went into the overwhelm feelings of what we wrote about in the record and then also contributes to like how proud we are of this record because we really had to push, shove, fight to get to this point." Stefani said.
The band wrote the first song for the new album in 2009, and most of it was recorded in 2011.
No Doubt shot to fame in the mid nineties with the release of their third album 'Tragic Kingdom', which included hit singles 'Just A Girl' and 'Don't Speak'. The latter being based on Stefani and bandmate Tony Kanal's break-up. Whatever the pain at the time the pair have worked through it and remained in the band along with drummer Adrian Young and guitarist Tom Dumont.
As for the future, the band are focused and ready to get on the road: "We are excited to tour, we are gonna do that next year, we have some shows coming up in LA at the end of this year and then next year is gonna be the world tour," Kanal said.
"It's sort of like being an athlete when you're touring because you gotta make sure you do everything right through the day to make sure you get the show right and to make sure you can do 100 shows in a row." Stefani enthused.
