Today Netanyahu, Lieberman and all the Israeli radicals' real value is the shoe. Maybe in the future, the value of this Israeli stubborn radical who tries to deny Palestinians their rights will be even less than a shoe." But this is something that no longer fools anyone. We in Hamas movement stress that we will not recognise the Israeli occupation, and that any recognition by any other Palestinian party has no value and does not implicate our Palestinian people. Netanyahu's talk about Shalit (referring to abducted Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit) ignores more than 7,000 Palestinian detainees. And Shalit will return to his parents when Palestinian detainees return to theirs." MORE OF ABU ZUHRI

- Story Text: Palestinians in Hebron on Friday (September 23) hurled shoes at a screen showing Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's UN address.
Netanyahu climbed the assembly's podium minutes after Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas finished his address, in which he applied for United Nations membership for the state of Palestine.
Netanyahu told the U.N. General Assembly that he was reaching out to the Palestinian people but cautioned that peace could not be won with a U.N. resolution. Netanyahu told the the 193-nation assembly that although Israel wants peace, peace "can not be reached" through U.N. resolutions.
One man said the speech showed Israel's arrogance.
"The Palestinian people are fed up with the Israeli arrogant narrative. Today Netanyahu, Lieberman and all the Israeli radicals' real value is the shoe. Maybe in the future, the value of this Israeli stubborn radical who tries to deny Palestinians from having their rights will be even less than a shoe," said Hebron resident Tamer El Atrash.
Hamas leadership in Gaza were also unimpressed by the Netanyahu speech.
"Netanyahu's speech is full of allegations and lies, and attempts to pretend to seem like the victim. But this is something that no longer fools anyone. We in Hamas movement stress that we will not recognize the Israeli occupation, and that any recognition by any other Palestinian party has no value and does not implicate our Palestinian people," Hamas spokesperson Sami Abu-Zuhri told Reuters in Gaza City.
Direct negotiations between Israel and the Palestinians collapsed a year ago. The Palestinians pulled out after Israel refused to extend a moratorium on new Jewish settlements in the West Bank. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
