(SOUNDBITE) (English) LORNE LUCREE, DIRECTOR OF MARKETING FOR RICKY'S, SAYING: "You know, you have your staples Breaking Bad look, Gatsby, Duck Dynasty which are all the staples. But as well what we've seen with Ricky's being the Halloween authority is understanding that consumers more and more are wanting a DIY (do it yourself) option - so to be really creative. So they might not want a costume in the bag, or they are thinking outside the bag actually. And they are thinking about kind of how they can pull different accessories and things together. So to address that this year we've introduced our costume concierge program. Which actually speaks to the whole DIY element and then we have recruited costume specialists that are set designers, costume designers, makeup artist that will actually sit down and consult with you." Popular costume shop Ricky's in New York City has a 'pup-up' shop to help pet owners find the perfect look for Halloween.
The pooch-perfect looks range from traditional witches and devils to current pop culture icons.
"This is very popular. It's a Katy Perry inspired costume for dogs, small or large. As well as then we offer dog wigs as well to match. So you can kind of have the full, you know, Katy Perry experience for your pup," said Lorne Lucree, the director of marketing for the store.
Shopper Mary Ann Hatch said she won't be dressing up this year but she sees some costumes for her four legged pal.
"I like the rock star. Trying to find a devil, because she's pretty funny," said Hatch.
As always, Hollywood is dictating many costume choices this year.
The popular television show "Breaking Bad," which finished its run this season, is an easy pick for both men and women.
"Unisex we are seeing our 'making bad' costumes. So this is our take on Walter White. We're seeing both men and women actually are gravitating towards this since the finale of the show. So it's very popular," said Lucree.
Other top costumes Lucree says include 1920s flapper looks inspired by the film "The Great Gatsby" and Miley Cyrus. The pop star's current reign has some mocking her new image.
This year Ricky's is providing shoppers with the opportunity to work with professionals to create an original look.
For shoppers who put their all into a costume like Laura Diaz - that's a welcome option.
"I was thinking of being a zombie for this year and I was like looking up some tutorials of how to do the makeup and how to have the scars look really real," she said.
