- Story Text: Russian President Dmitry Medvedev met Chinese Vice Premier Li Keqiang on Friday (April 27) in Moscow during Li's official visit to the Russian Federation.
Medvedev hosted Li at his residence outside Moscow. The president said he was glad to discuss the many-sided Russian-Chinese relations that have developed during the last few years.
"I'm glad to meet you here and to talk to you, to discuss multifaceted Russia-China relations and to have a look at their future, especially in the context on which these relations have been developing for the last years. Quite recently I had a meeting with (Chinese) President Hu Jintao in India, we discussed good things that had happened, we discussed the plans and the horizons of our cooperation, and I consider your visit exactly in this context," Medvedev said.
Li also thanked Medvedev for the opportunity to meet and to discuss their countries' bilateral relationship.
"I am very glad to meet you Mr. President. Thank you very much for this opportunity to meet you. First of all let me pass regards from Hu Jintao. During that meeting you reached a new agreement which gave new stimulus to develop the strategic partnership and cooperation," he said.
Li also met with current Russian Prime Minister and President-elect Vladimir Putin to discuss strategic cooperation and partnership between two countries on Friday.
On Saturday (April 28), he plans to meet Russian deputy Prime Minister Igor Shuvalov at Russian-China trade forum, speak at Moscow State University and hold a briefing with Russian Foreign Ministry officials.
