- Story Text: A Cologne-based company claims to have developed the first cigar made for women by women.
"La Baronessa" was recently introduced in Cologne by its inventor, Catherine Le Pesqueur, known as Aida.
The cigar lover of French and Austrian origin who promotes her invention at stylish parties across Europe says "there have been repeated requests when we were on the road (and) women walked up to the humidor and asked: do you also have cigars for us?"
"It's a cigar made by women for women - and emancipated men," Aida said.
After extensive research Aida believes she found the perfect tobacco mixture suitable to a woman's taste, made with tobacco leaves steamed in palm tree honey.
"I invented a cigar for women. But this cigar is also suitable for men," Aida said of her cigars made in Honduras.
Olaf Goergen, a male cigar smoker who attended the cigars recent presentation, explained that "I usually smoke cigars from the Dominican Republic because they are light and this one perfectly fits my taste."
"It's ideal for beginners," Goergen said.
La Baronessa are sold via the Internet at 30 euros ($35.37) for six cigars. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
