- Story Text: Turkey's President Abdullah Gul said on Wednesday (August 14) that an armed intervention by Egyptian security forces against protesters in Cairo supporting ousted president Mohamed Mursi was "completely unacceptable".
"Armed intervention on civilians, on people demonstrating is completely unacceptable," Gul told reporters in Istanbul.
"No matter what the reason is, such actions would open dangerous doors," he said..
Turkey has emerged as one of the fiercest international critics of what it has called an "unacceptable coup" after Egypt's military ousted the elected Mursi.
Supporters of Mursi gathered in Istanbul and help photographs of the ousted leader.
"We strongly condemn these massacres. We are tired of the hypocrisy of the people who claim to teach democracy to the world," one man Cihan Yuce told Reuters TV. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
