- Story Text: New Zealand come to the Twenty20 World Cup after beating India and captain Ross Taylor told reporters on Thursday (September 13) that he hoped his team had revived their form.
"It's been a tough couple of months in the West Indies and India. But hopefully we have turned the corner with the first one in India for a long time," he said at a news conference in Colombo. "But we have tough foes in Pakistan and Bangladesh and we don't want to look too far ahead than those two matches."
The Kiwis are seventh in the team rankings for the Twenty20 World Cup and the one match victory in Chennai, after the opening match was washed-out, has given the team a boost.
Taylor said that his team need to cope better with spin bowling when they play their first two matches with Pakistan and Bangladesh.
"I see a Twenty20 game as a game where you have to play attacking. But they do have world class spinners in their sides. We need to acknowledge that and come up with plans to combat that," he said.
The tournament begins in Sri Lanka on September 18. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
