- Story Text: Socialist candidate for the French Presidency Francois Hollande said on Saturday that he was nervous and anxious for victory with only a few hours to go to the opening of polls in the country's presidential election.
With the official election campaign over, Hollande spent his final day before the opening of polls in mainland France touring his political fiefdom of Tulle, a small town in central France.
"Nervous, anxious for victory," he said in English, to a Reuters reporter who asked him how he felt.
To another reporter who asked if his election would make him less available to the citizens of Tulle, where he runs the regional council, Hollande said: "The inhabitants of Tulle won't miss me. If I lose, they'll still have me. And if I'm elected, they will have me even more. (Journalist, off camera. But you'll be less available?) But at the same time, they will be reassured to have me as president." - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
