- Story Text: Indonesian sirens and exotic dancers are the motifs of Farah Angsana's first Spring/Summer collection.
Indonesian designer Farah Angsana took her collection to Paris for the first time, during the Spring/Summer 2002 fashion week.
Inspired by the tales and legends of her land, Angsana's collection depicts sirens, Balinese and Javanese dancers, and Indonesian queens.
Delicate and exotic, the simple designs come alive with embroiderings, pailletes and scales, always in soft tones and light fabrics. The colours are sky blue like the skies of her country, algae green like the lakes, baby rose for the eternal feminine in every woman, and a few touches of brown as a reminder of Angsana's ethnic heritage.
A dress in transparent green silk mousseline, ornamented with beads and embroiderings, was worn over a scanty green bikini. Even more daring, a minute throng totally covered in beads and pailletes was accompanied by nothing by a cascade of long necklaces.
Angsana's first Paris collection was impressive even though it lacked the conventional catwalk. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
