- Story Text: Indonesian Zoo celebrates arrival of four new tigers
cubs.
Four Bengal tiger cubs are the latest addition to
Indonesia's Taman Safari Park.
The proud white Bengal Tiger parents, mother Shinta and
father Bono have been temporarily separated while Shinta
cares for the cubs for the first few weeks.
However, the cubs' sex or weight has not yet been
determined because protective Shinta has been reluctant to
allow keepers any access to her new arrivals.
"At the moment everything seems to be proceeding as
normal, but we have not been able to enter the pen to take
exact weight measurements," said zoo keeper Arsyad
Jamaludin.
This is Shinta's second litter at Taman Safari. She
gave birth five years ago to a three cub litter, two
females and one male.
Shinta's parents arrived in Indonesia in 1989 as gifts
from Cincinnati and Minnesota zoos, and is one of 28
offspring produced by a breeding pair.
