- Story Text: Thousands of people were looking up Paris' iron lady to see a roller skater dive from the first floor into a 40 metres high jump on Saturday (May 29).
Taig Khris, many times World Champion and winner of the X-Games, launched himself from the first floor of the Eiffel tower into a 10-metre drop and landed on a 30-metre high ramp.
At the bottom, a giant airbag was there to stop him.
On the first attempt, Khris fell on a failed landing -- but he chose to try his luck again.
On his second attempt, Khris jumped flawlessly and crowds were cheering as he set a new world record for the highest jump on roller skates ever to take place.
"I went up there, full of speed and I concentrated and I made it the second time so I'm so happy, so happy. That event , that dream is really a dream for everybody because if I came so far, if I could make the impossible dream here... because really to put a ramp like that, at the Eiffel Tower, it's really impossible, normally it's just impossible, so to create that it is really a proof that everything is possible, when you dream a lot and you work hard. Two years non stop, I didn't sleep for night and nights, for that small moment up there and now, as you can see, I made it so that's cool," he said after his achievement. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
