- Title: USA: AMERICAN FILM PREMIERE OF COMEDY "MADE" WHICH INCLUDES RAP SINGER SEAN COMBS IN A SUPPORTING ROLE
- Date: 18th June 2001
- Summary: LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA, UNITED STATES (JUNE 18) (REUTERS) SCU (SOUNDBITE) (ENGLISH) JON FAVREAU SAYING " We open up with a Dean Martin song, which is a little tip of the hat, and, certainly, my relationship with Vince has a lot of the same chemistry that we had in the first and there's a lot of little inside, little references to "Swingers." We're very much aware of "Swingers" in this one and I think that, if you look at the camera work, it very much has that hand-held, documentary sort-of gritty feel and , you know, lit certainly with the same type of look." SCU (SOUNDBITE) (ENGLISH) VINCE VAUGHN SAYING " A studio came to us to do a comedy, we love you guys, you're funny, then we wrote our script and they said well, we don't want to make this, and so, we said okay and then Jon said I'm going to write something unencumbered and he called it "Made," cause it's a mafia movie but also because subliminally, he wanted to get it "Made," and it's it's own animal."

- Story Text: Jon Favreau and Vince Vaughn, the boys from the sleeper hit hipster comedy "Swingers," reunited on Tuesday, July 10 in New York City for the World Premiere of their latest comedy "Made," about a couple of wanna-be mobsters on their first job. Recording artist Sean "Puffy" Combs, who has a supporting role in the film, also put in an appearance.
Favreau and Vaughn became stars five years ago when they wrote and starred in the low-budget hipster comedy "Swingers" for director Doug Liman. Since that time, both actors have gone away to work in larger-budget studio pictures, always with the intention and desire to get back together and make another comedy.
Rather than make a sequel to "Swingers," Favreau decided to write a comedy called "Made," about two 30-something blue collar types who, desperate to get out of their depressing financial condition, try to make names for themselves in the mob.
Although the story and location is different from "Swingers," much of the chemistry between the two lead actors remains intact, as does the look and feel of the film. Aside from Favreau and Vaughn, the cast includes Peter Falk as the old-time mob boss who hires them and rap star Sean "Puffy"
Combs, in his feature film debut, as Ruiz, a downtown Manhattan gangster.
"Made" also marks Jon Favreau's debut as a feature film director, but he conceeds that, on smaller films such as this one, the roles are more blurred and, in fact, he and Vince Vaughn shared many of the writing and directing duties, a similar arrangement they had when working on "Swingers."
"Made" opens in theaters throughout the United States on Friday, July 13. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
