- Story Text: Azerbaijani pop singer Emin is hoping to emulate his success in his home country and in Russia with a new single 'Amor'.
Emin (real name Emin Araz oglu Agalarov) plugged his new single with a performance at the UK's breakfast show Daybreak and then played some extra tracks for the audience waiting on London's Southbank.
Asked why now was the right time to unleash his music in Europe, Emin replied "It's been taking me a while because I've released two albums here, four singles and I've topped already two charts a couple of times but I think the music was not exactly right but I think with this album with this song 'Amor', it's the kind of song that connects immediately and here's Miss Universe who's in my video."
Miss Universe 2012 Olivia Culpo not only stars in his video but also was in the audience as he performed. Emin himself is performing at the 2013 Miss Universe pageant.
"Actually the announcement is that the next Miss Universe this November is going to take place in Moscow and I'll perform - probably 'Amor' - Olivia is going to be on stage with the crown, waving it," he said.
Emin's new single "Amor" has a Latin feel to it and shows Emin shining a torch around trying to find Culpo.
But, Emin is not your usual pop star. He's the son-in-law of Ilham Aliyev, the president of Azerbaijan, and his father is a successful businessman.
However, he claims having powerful relatives has not created problems for his musical career.
"It could be strange at times but if it's done right, anything is compatible, with family, with business, with your family business, with your music, you just have to be sure about what you're doing, you have to be confident and live a dream and I think I've realised that," he said.
Emin has performed at both the Eurovision Song Contest and opened for Jennifer Lopez at her sell-out concert in Baku's Crystal Hall, and now he's living his dreams.
"It was always a dream. It's an inspiration to write songs, the music lives within you, you have to get it out, and if you don't it will just die within you. So if I have it, I like to write those songs, and put the lyrics to the music and to obviously perform those songs and I've built my audience in my own country of Azerbaijan and Russia where I live now. I'm trying to break the borders and cross over to Europe and the United States," he said.
'Amor' is due for release on August 26th in the UK. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
