- Story Text: Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard joined his team mates and officials in an open training session ahead of a friendly match against Indonesia in Jakarta on Friday (July 19).
The training session took place in Jakarta's main stadium Gelora Bung Karno.
The English premier club are completing the first leg of their pre-season Asia tour, They will also visit Australia and Thailand.
The Liverpool Indonesia fans club claims that it has the biggest number of Liverpool fans in the world with 1.3 million members, and groups of them were in the stands to watch their favourite team train.
The club also organised training clinics for local chilren with coaches from its charitable foundation.
One of the clinics took place at the stadium complex during the day, but one young player was disappointed that the training was by a juniors' coach with no personal appearance by the Liverpool manager or his players.
"I am happy with this practice but there are no Liverpool players, only coaches from United Kingdom," Muhammad Rizqi Faldi said to Reuters.
Liverpool's striker Luis Suarez, who the club insists will stay at Liverpool, did not fly out with the squad but is due to join the team later in their tour. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
