- Story Text: With a slight delay and despite heavy rain, Champions League winners Bayern Munich landed back home in Germany on Sunday (May 26) to continue their celebrations.
The team flew back from London, where they beat German rivals Borussia Dortmund 2-1 on Saturday (May 25), in a large A380 plane painted in the colours of a red and white Bayern Munich flag and adorned with the word "Congratulations."
Captain Philipp Lahm disembarked the team plane first holding the Champions League trophy together with coach Jupp Heynckes.
Midfielder Arjen Robben was immediately surrounded by journalists, having scored the winner goal in the 89th minute of the match, but said he didn't think he would be taking the trophy home with him.
"I don't know, there are still another 18 or 19 players, so I think the captain will take it with him," he told journalists.
Lahm said the celebrations would be muted for now though, as the team have their next challenge, namely the German Cup Final against VfB Stuttgart in Berlin on Saturday (June 1).
"Of course we want to win the treble, of course. Today we are able to celebrate yesterday's win, and then we have the week and of course we want to be well prepared for the German Cup final," he said.
If they win that match, Bayern Munich will have achieved an unprecedented treble by a German team. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
