- Story Text: Stunned Bayern Munich fans left public viewing areas in the city on Saturday (May 19) with a bitter taste in their mouths after their team outplayed Chelsea in the Champions League final, but still lost.
Chelsea stunned Bayern Munich to win the Champions League for the first time with a 4-3 penalty shoot-out in the Allianz Arena after a tension-packed final had ended 1-1 after extra time on Saturday (May 19).
"Bayern played so much better, so much better. And then something like this happens. But that's soccer, nothing you can do about it. Chelsea won and we're good losers. Let's hope next time will be better, in the next season," said one fan.
Another commented: "It was definitely not justified."
"It was absolutely terrible what happened here. There never should have been a penalty shootout in the first place. Bayern Munich should never ever have lost," said another disgruntled fan.
"Bayern should have won, honestly, because Chelsea did exactly the same thing as with Barcelona, they were just standing around in the back. Stupid," a fourth fan said. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
