- Story Text: INTRODUCTION: Iran's revolutionary Islamic leader, Ayatollah Khomeini has denounced the killing, in Shiraz, southern Iran, of his close aide the Ayatollah Abdolhosen Dastkheyb.A schoolgirl assassin from an Islamic guerrilla group in the bombing.Several others, including a grandchild of the Ayatollah, were also killed in the explosion.
SYNOPSIS: The 68 year old Ayatollah Dastkheyb had just left home to conduct Friday (11 December) prayers at a mosque in the southern city of Shiraz when the attack occurred.iran's revolutionary Islamic leader, the Ayatollah Khomeini, condemned the killing of his close aide, blaming "criminal American hands".
Reports of assassinations by the guerrillas have been falling recently.The killing of the Ayatollah Datskheyb is said to be the most significant slaying since the death, in September, of Ayatollah Madani by a suicide commando in Tabriz.Huge crowds turned out foe the funeral on Sunday (13 December) which followed a special day set aside for mourning in Fars province where Ayatollah Dastkheyb had led Friday prayers since shortly after the revolution in 1979.
