- Story Text: A French army Hercules C-130 plane carrying 48 wounded Lebanese Moslems rescued by hospital boat from Beirut landed in France early on Thursday morning and were rushed to hospitals in Paris.
Another 29 victims of the latest round of fighting in Lebanon were on their way on a second plane.
The wounded Moslems were welcomed to France by Family Affairs Minister, Helene Dorlhac, who said she was "shaken by these injured people in a state of shock."
She said France would continue its diplomatic initiative to stop the fighting and its humanitarian efforts to help the injured.
Last week the French hospital ship Rance rescued 12 Lebanese Christians injured in the fighting and provided food and medical supplies. After criticism that its policy was biased towards the Christians, the French government said it would "increase its efforts to help victims on both sides." - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
