- Story Text: Italian designer Valentino has presented an exotic, cosmopolitan collection at his his haute couture spring/summer 2005 show in Paris.
Italian designer Valentino unveiled his Spring/summer 2005 collection on the second day of the Paris Haute Couture shows on Monday (January 24, 2005). The show was based on the idea that Haute Couture is now a completely global affair. The collection aimed to touch on clients coming from every corner of the globe: Asia, Russia, India, Europe and South America.
Continually inspired by new cities, places and happenings, this year's show comprised 37 creations, each one inspired by an imaginary trip to the most beautiful places in the world.
He said "Because we are very few now for couture, I tried with this collection to do this sort of panoramic of beautiful ladies, situated in many many places around the world. The colour: there's a lot of white, beiges, salmon and shades of colour, the tones of the volcano and the rainbow."
There was wool, double cashmere, embossed silk and ivory chiffons with floral embroiderings.
The catwalk was set against a backdrop of video images showing pictures of international cities as well as floral or distinct patterns that were then reflected in the clothes. An accompaniment of international music added to the atmosphere.
The collection maintained his flair for elegance and classic beauty, with fine cuts, delicate embroidery and accessories of pearl and crystal brooches, shoes and purses. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
