- Story Text: A Danish father who killed his daughters by setting them alight in his own car was sentenced to life in prison on Thursday (May 31) in the German town of Potsdam.
41-year old Peter-Thue R. confessed to setting his car alight after he had given sleeping pills to his daughters.
Police discovered the wreck of the burnt car in the woods near the town of Nauen, in Brandenburg, some 40 kilometres east of Berlin. After an initial autopsy, authorities confirmed that the children were still alive at the time of the fire.
The father, who was on holiday with his two daughters, had failed to secure the sole custody of them and was not prepared to share his children with his ex-wife or to grant his ex-wife access to the children. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
