- Story Text: An area of low pressure caused heavy snowfall in western Germany on Friday (December 7), leaving commuters with difficult driving conditions.
According to the German Meteorological Service, up to ten centimetres of snow was expected and in higher areas up to 15 centimetres could fall.
Roads near the city of Mainz were in near complete white-out conditions by early afternoon, with drivers having to take extra care.
