I want it to be like, classy. I don't want to spend time poking fun at people. So there will be a bunch of classy stuff. My opening stuff is going to be more word based, less song based. I think we have Elton John performing at the piano, it's going to be a really classy song. Carrie Underwood's performing. We have a big 'So You Think You Can/Dancing With the Stars' choreographers' number that's pretty spectacular, so I think that will kick it up at the end. Otherwise it's watching people get teary and get played off." - Story Text: The 65th annual Emmy Awards will be held in Los Angeles on Sunday (September 22), and preparations are underway to honor prime-time television's best and brightest stars.
Neil Patrick Harris, host of this year's awards, unrolled the official red carpet on Wednesday (September 18). Harris said he wants to keep the show classy.
"I don't want to spend time poking fun at people, " he said. "So there will be a bunch of classy stuff. Otherwise it's watching people get teary and get played off."
Crews inside L.A.'s Nokia Theatre were busy assembling the show's stage, while seat assignments for Emmy hopefuls were already marked by large placards.
Inside the Governors Ball, tables were already set for the elegant dinner, which will follow the show. This year's theme transforms the hall into a magical enchanted forest under a canopy of blue and green lit decor. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
