Thousands of people took to the streets of Sidon in Lebanon on Saturday (March 22) to protest against the war against Iraq.
The intensifying hostilities drew fresh anti-war protests around the world. Thousands of anti-war protesters staged peaceful rallies in in Asia, while Arabs outraged by the bombing of Baghdad took to the streets in Bahrain and Oman -- two Gulf states that host U.S. forces -- as well as in other Arab countries.
Thousands of anti-war protesters wove flags, banners and placards in the coastal city of Sidon, south of Beirut. Some carried portraits of Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein, as well as Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat.
The demonstration was peaceful.
