- Story Text: Russian President Vladimir Putin hosted French Prime Minister Jean-Marc Ayrault in Moscow on Friday (November 1) for bilateral talks.
The two leaders praised their countries' cooperation on a range of issues, but Putin said he was especially pleased with work on energy issues.
"We work together in the energy sector, in all areas - hydrocarbons, electricity, hydroelectricity, and nuclear energy. As far as our nuclear energy cooperation goes, we are working on the very latest technology, working together on a new generation of fast neutron reactors," Putin said.
Ayrault said he and Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev had fruitful negotiations earlier and were on their 18th successful inter-governmental meeting.
"I simply want to say that this is the second time now that Mr. Medvedev and I have chaired this intergovernmental commission, and I am completely confident that our bilateral relations are very solid and lasting and have a big future ahead," Ayrault said.
During the meeting, Putin noted that French-Russian trade had decreased slightly, but he said he hoped it would get back on track. - Copyright Holder: POOL (CAN SELL)
