- Story Text: It's a classic tale of rags-to-riches for Cinderella and the woman playing the role of Fairy Godmother -- legendary chanteuse Eartha Kitt.
It's been three decades since Eartha Kitt became a household name playing 'Catwoman' on the classic U.S.
television show Batman, but the veteran songstress is as busy as ever with her sexy cabaret career that has taken her to over 100 countries.
She is an international star whose electrifying career has spanned not only television, but theatre, film, cabaret, and the recording industry; winning major awards in every category of the business.
Given her age in a fickle industry, Kitt is showing no signs of slowing down. Her books, numerous recordings, film, television, and stage roles, as well as countless concert appearances have
kept her in the public eye, and she has shown no sign of slowing down at the age of 72.
"I have nothing to hide, I just want to keep working," says Kitt with a smile and gleam in her eye.
Currently, she's starring in a theater version of Rodgers and Hammerstein's fairy-tale story of Cinderella, which will travel across the U.S and eventually worldwide starting next year.
Other stars include resurrected pop singer Debbie Gibson who plays Cinderella, and the handsome Paulo Monatblan who plays the fariy-tale prince.
Her Broadway performance comes just weeks after giving a voice to the evil sorcerer Yzma, in Disney's latest film, "The Emperor's New Groove". - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
