- Story Text: Slovak President Ivan Gasparovic and his Croatian counterpart, Ivo Josipovic on Wednesday (July 11) pledged to improve trade and business cooperation in transport and energy, particularly after Croatia joins the European Union in July 2013.
"That (EU entry) will be an additional impetus for our cooperation," Gasparovic said after a meeting at the Croatian president's office.
"We have also discussed some concrete projects involving investments, particularly in energy, transport and building hydro and solar powerplants," Gasparovic said.
Slovakia was the first EU member to ratify Croatia's accession treaty earlier this year. The treaty must be approved by all 27 members before Croatia can join.
"We want to improve trade, we want tourists from both countries to visit the other friendly country, and of course, we want to develop joint long-term strategic economic projects, particularly in transport and energy," said Josipovic. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
