- Story Text: NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen arrived at the Turkish Foreign Ministry on Friday (February 17) to hold talks with Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu.
At a joint news conference after the meeting, Rasmussen said Turkey's leadership was crucial in the region.
"Across the region the people are rising up and demanding their rights, the same rights that we as NATO citizens have long enjoyed. As the Arab Spring unfolds, continued Turkish leadership will be crucial because Turkey is a vital part of this region and Turkey is a vital part of NATO."
