- Story Text: The biblical term, "The Lazarus Effect," is the name of a brand new film, supported by U2 frontman Bono and Project Red.
The film, which shows the lives of people who have been transformed from near death existence to a healthier life, in a short period of time, opened in New York, at the Museum of Modern Art.
The documentary draws attention to the impact of increased access to medicine during the past decade and the hope it has brought to millions of people.
Bono, who arrived at the premiere with wife Ali, talked about his involvement with the project.
"Just remind people how simple it is to have an impact on a life that is vulnerable, whether its a child, its mother, whether its a man who wants to be part of the work force but is now half his body weight, begging for his life," said Bono. "Two pills a day, forty days later, he is back at work."
Bono said he was looking forward to his U2 360° Tour in 2010.
"Yeah I am excited," said Bono. "That's my day job, I am moonlighting tonight. Although Adam Clayton is with me tonight and that is pretty special."
The half hour documentary, "The Lazarus Effect," will air on HBO Monday, May 24. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
