- Story Text: The German DAX index opened 0.8 percent higher on Wednesday (September 11), one day after it closed more than two percent higher amid market expectations that the impact of the Syrian crisis will be limited.
"The market overcame this Syria crisis because of the deescalation and the diplomatic efforts to solve this problem," chief trader Oliver Roth of Close Brothers Seydler bank told Reuters Television.
"Therefore, we are.. optimistic and much more focused right now on a possible exit of the Fed or the economic situation in the world," Roth said.
His comments reflected sentiments elsewhere as an easing in international tensions over Syria prompted investors to seek higher-yielding assets.
Some 90 minutes into trading, the DAX was up 34 points at 8,482 points, an increase of 0.43 percent. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
