- Story Text: Libya's National Transitional Council said on Sunday (May 20) the death of Abdul Basset al-Megrahi, convicted of the 1988 Lockerbie bombing, will not end the government's investigation into the attack.
"We had hoped that we would come to know some of the facts related to this painful incident that took place and the role played by the former regime in this incident, but we believe his death will not seal this file as long as there are people inside Libya and outside who wish to reveal more truths about this matter. The Libyan government will continue to investigate using witnesses who can give information, so we can understand the criminal role played by the previous regime locally and internationally because this is well known, all the crimes committed by (former Libyan Leader Muammar) Gaddafi in several countries and we want to turn the page on this matter, but only once we have discovered the truth," NTC spokesman Mohamed al-Harizy told Reuters. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
