- Story Text: Ireland has high hopes for a win at this year's Eurovision Song Contest in the western German city of Duesseldorf, with their entry, the extravagant identical twin brothers, who make up the band "Jedward".
19-year-old John and Edward Grimes shot to stardom in the UK and Ireland after appearing in the British television talent show, X-factor in 2009.
They became known for their distinctive hair styles - bright blond quifs and their slightly unusual dancing performances. The pair have now become one of the most successful acts ever to have taken part in the talent competition.
Speaking after their first official rehearsal in Duesseldorf, the brothers said they were feeling positive that they could do well.
"I feel that we have a great song. We have a really cool song, we've got a cool performance, we've got a cool attitude. I feel like we've got the attitude to do well in Eurovision and I feel like we are really optimistic. We always want to have fun in everything that we do and I feel that if people vote for us we can go really far in the competition," John told reporters, while Edward added, "We're in the second semi-final and we are 19th and we are 19 so that's really really cool."
The brothers have gone on to star in their own tv show, and then worked with 90's hip-hop start Vanilla Ice for their first single Under Pressure (Ice Ice Baby), which flew to the top of the Irish singles charts. It was also a number two hit in the UK on downloads.
Their debut album planet Jedward, which was released in July 2010, became the fastest selling album in Ireland that year.
Their success continued with a tour - which was extended from 28 to 75 dates, due to the twins' huge fan base.
Jedward will be performing "Lipstick" in this year's Eurovision Song Contest. It has already gone to No.1 in the Irish charts after winning the Irish Eurovision selection competition.
